The best makeup cannot cover unprepared skin. The skin plan starts months ahead and has one iron rule: nothing new gets tried for the first time close to the wedding.

The reason for this long lead time is biological: skin renews itself in cycles of about four weeks, so every serious change, from treating blemishes to fading spots, needs several cycles to show. Professional treatments work in series too, not as one-off miracles. Whoever starts two months ahead works with the skin; whoever starts a week ahead merely hopes.

The home routine: the base of everything

No salon treatment replaces the daily routine. The simple formula that works for most people: gentle cleansing morning and evening, moisturising matched to the skin type, and sun protection every day, not only at the beach. That is it. Skin treated simply and regularly arrives at the wedding better than skin loaded with ten new products bought in last-month panic.

If you want to add active ingredients, like mild acids or concentrated vitamins, do it months ahead and one at a time, so you see how the skin reacts. Wedding week is the forbidden zone for anything new, and that includes "innocent" products like masks bought on the go. The makeup artist's golden rule applies here too: the big day should find skin that knows its own routine by heart.

If you know your skin reacts easily, build in one extra safety step: test every new product first on a small area behind the ear or on the jaw and wait 48 hours, and tell the aesthetician and the makeup artist at the first meeting which ingredients have irritated your skin before. This simple information changes their product choices and spares you the worst possible surprise of wedding week.

The plan by timeline

• 2 to 3 months ahead: a deep cleanse and a skin assessment, so problems get treated in time. At B&B Elegance the deep cleanse costs 25 €.

• Wedding week: only hydration and sleep. Brow shaping 2 to 3 days ahead (7 € at B&B), not on the wedding day.

The treatments one by one: what each does

Treatment names sound like a foreign catalogue, so here they are in practical language, with the public prices of B&B Elegance as reference points. The deep cleanse (25 €) removes impurities and is the classic first step of any plan. The hydrafacial (60 €, or 50 € combined with a deep cleanse) cleans and hydrates at once, which makes it the favourite of the final weeks. Radiofrequency (20 €, or 45 € together with a deep cleanse) works with gentle heat for skin tightening, aqua-dermabrasion (30 €) smooths the surface with water and suction, while LED therapy (15 €) uses red or blue light for calming and regeneration, with no physical contact at all. On the medical side, estethica offers hydrafacial, laser, mesotherapy and procedures like Tixel, which require a prior consultation and more distance from the wedding date.

What not to do before the wedding

• No new product, treatment or device in wedding week, however praised. The skin has no time left to show whether it disagrees.
• No sunburn and no tanning bed in the final month: redness and peeling skin cannot be covered by any makeup.
• No squeezing blemishes: a calm blemish gets covered in three minutes, a squeezed one needs days to heal.
• No aggressive treatments close to the date: procedures that redden or peel the skin should finish at least two weeks ahead.
• Facial hair removal and brows not on the wedding day but 2 to 3 days ahead, so the redness settles.

The summer sun and the wedding

Since most weddings fall in July and August, the sun is the most underrated factor of the skin plan. The two practical risks: sharp tan lines, which an open-shoulder dress exposes without mercy, and the shade shift between the makeup trial and the wedding day, which forces the artist to adjust the base at the last minute.

The solution is boring and it works: sun protection every day in the final month, a hat on long days outdoors, and no tanning session "for a healthy colour" after the makeup trial. If you want colour, get it before the trial, so the artist works with the final shade.

Neck, neckline and back

A wedding dress reveals zones the daily routine often forgets: the neck, the neckline, the back and the arms. Invite these zones into your plan two months ahead: cleansing and moisturising them works the same as for the face, only simpler. If the back has blemishes and the dress is open, discuss it with the aesthetician at the first assessment, because that too gets worked on in sessions, not in one go. On the wedding day, remember the tone rule: face, neck and neckline must be a single colour in photos.

Sleep, water and stress

The cheapest part of the skin plan cannot be bought at all. Regular sleep in the final weeks directly shapes how the skin and the eyes look, enough water through the day keeps the skin plump, and planning stress shows up exactly where you do not want it, on the face. None of this demands heroic discipline: it only demands that the final week not be filled with tasks that could have been done a month earlier.

With the public prices of B&B Elegance, a full skin plan calculates precisely: deep cleanse two months ahead 25 €, the cleanse plus hydrafacial combination one month ahead 50 €, dermaplaning or LED one week ahead 15 €, in total around 90 € for three months of preparation.
