Well shaped brows change a face more than any makeup product. The base services are tweezer or thread shaping and tinting; the next step is microblading, semi-permanent pigmentation that lasts months.

The public prices that exist are at B&B Elegance: brow shaping 7 €, tinting 8 €. For microblading, the names in our ranking are FRK Beauty Kosova and Njomza Beauty Center, both without public prices.

Shaping: tweezers, thread or wax

• Tweezers: the most precise, hair by hair; ideal for corrections and shapes that need patience. It takes longer as a procedure, but errs less.
• Thread: the cotton-thread technique removes whole rows of fine hairs quickly and without chemicals; preferred for sensitive skin that gets irritated by wax.
• Wax: the fastest, and it gives a clean line that lasts; but it pulls skin too, so it is not recommended if you use retinoids or have very thin skin around the eyes.

Whatever the method: the golden rule is that the shape is decided before the first hair comes out. Ask the beautician to draw the shape or show it to you in the mirror first. An over-plucked brow takes weeks to grow back; five minutes of discussion up front save two months of waiting.

Tinting: what it does and how long it lasts

Tinting darkens the existing hairs and makes visible even the fine, light ones the eye does not catch. The result: a fuller brow without a single extra hair. The colour holds on the hair for 4 to 6 weeks; the light shading it leaves on the skin fades within days. For many people tinting makes the brow pencil unnecessary, so at 8 € a month (the public price at B&B Elegance) it is one of the best effect-to-price services there is.

One caution only: if you are tinting for the first time or have ever reacted to hair dyes, ask for a patch test 24 to 48 hours ahead. It is one dot of dye behind the ear, and it saves you a reaction in the middle of your face.

Microblading up close

Microblading is semi-permanent pigmentation: a fine tool draws strokes that imitate real hairs under the top layer of the skin. The first procedure takes around two hours, including drawing the shape and numbing cream. The result usually lasts 1 to 2 years, fading gradually; oily skin holds it for less time than dry skin.

• The first week: the brows look darker and thicker than the final result; that is normal and softens.
• Healing: 10 to 14 days without direct water on the brows, no makeup on the area, no pool, sauna or heavy sweating; the small scabs that form must not be picked.
• The touch-up: after 4 to 6 weeks comes the second session, filling the spots the skin pushed out during healing. Without it the result stays incomplete; always ask whether the price includes it.

Who should be careful or wait

• Pregnancy and breastfeeding: most serious studios do not do microblading in this period; tinting and shaping remain fine.
• Retinoids and acids around the brow area thin the skin; pause them a few days before waxing or microblading.
• A tendency to keloids, uncontrolled diabetes or blood-thinning medication require a word with your doctor before any pigmentation.
• Freshly tanned or sunburnt skin does not get pigmented; plan microblading away from beach holidays.

The alternatives: lamination, henna and powder brows

Between simple tinting and microblading sit a few techniques worth knowing before you decide:

• Brow lamination: the hairs are chemically softened and set in the desired direction; a full, brushed-up brow effect that lasts 4 to 6 weeks. Ideal for unruly hairs, with no pigmentation at all.
• Henna: it colours both the hairs and the skin beneath them, so it gives a more visible shadow than classic tint; the skin shadow lasts about a week, the colour on the hairs several weeks.
• Powder brows: machine pigmentation that gives a soft shaded effect like a pencil, not hair strokes like microblading; it suits oily skin better, where the fine microblading strokes blur over time.

Which techniques a specific studio in Pristina offers has to be asked directly; not every name on the list does all of them, and the labels differ from place to place.

Brows before events: the right timing

Shaping happens 2 to 4 days before the event: close enough for the shape to be fresh, far enough for the fine redness to be gone. Tinting happens about a week ahead, so the intensity of the first days softens to a natural level. Microblading never in the month of the event: between the first session, healing and the touch-up, six to eight weeks pass, so for an August wedding the process should start in spring. These three windows together are the complete brow calendar for any big occasion.

Aftercare for shaping and tinting

After shaping, the skin around the brow is red for an hour or two; do not put makeup on the area that day and keep your hands off it. After tinting, avoid oil cleansers and acids around the brows for a day, because they fade the colour early. And one rule that covers both: the day before the appointment, no retinol and no exfoliation in that zone, so the skin is not thinned when it gets worked on.

The most common brow mistakes

• Plucking "just two hairs" yourself between appointments: two become ten, and the professional shape is ruined for weeks.
• Asking for the brows of another face: the shape that looks wonderful on someone on Instagram is built on that face's bones, not yours.
• Leaving the allergy patch test for "next time": a reaction in the middle of your face does not wait for next time.
• Choosing the microblading studio by the lowest price: you are not buying a service here, you are trusting someone with your face for two years.
• Forgetting that trends change: the stronger the intervention, the more conservative the shape should be. The classic ages slowly, fashion fast.

The right shape for your face

A brow shape is not chosen by trend but by face: the start point, the arch and the tail of the brow are calculated from the proportions of your face, a technique good studios call mapping. Trends flip every two years, from thin brows to full natural ones and back; a brow built for your face does not age. So be careful with radical requests: shaping follows a trend within a month, microblading freezes it for two years.

What to ask the studio before pigmentation

• Ask for photos of healed work, not just fresh: freshly done microblading always looks good, the quality shows after six months.
• Ask about hygiene: single-use needles and blades opened in front of your eyes are the minimum standard.
• Clarify the total price: is the touch-up session included, and what does the yearly refresh cost.
• Ask what happens if you do not like the result: a serious studio has a clear answer about corrections, not just promises.

Price context

Shaping at 7 € and tinting at 8 € (the public prices of B&B Elegance) are about half to a third of what the same services cost in Germany or Switzerland, where professional shaping usually runs 15 to 30 €. For microblading there are no public prices in Pristina; for comparison, in Western Europe the procedure usually costs 250 to 500 € including the touch-up. So ask for the total price in writing before booking, and compare between studios.
